Top 10 Best Black Clover Arcs Ranked.
Black Clover is a Shonen manga written and illustrated by Yūki Tabata. The story follows Asta, a young boy born without any magic power which is rare considering everyone has some sort of magic power. We follow Asta’s journey to becoming the Wizard King.
I have ranked all the Manga arcs so far.
10. Dungeon Exploration Arc
Chapters: 11- 21
On the number 10 spot we have “The Dungeon Exploration Arc”, it is the 2nd arc of Black Clover. The arc revolves around the exploration of a newly emerged dungeon at the border of the Clover and Diamond Kingdoms. Both the kingdoms tried to conquer the dungeon and sent their teams, in this arc, we get to know more about the other nations like the Diamond kingdom, and side characters like luck, and mars have their interesting backstories.
During their mission, clover kingdom knights face magic knights from the Diamond kingdom and they engage in fights, it was the first time we get to see Asta and Yuno on an official mission. Both the brothers combined really well; We get to know the human modification project of the Diamond kingdom; the peak moment was when Asta found his second sword and defeats Mars. In the end, the clover kingdom was able to beat the Diamond kingdom.
Placing it at the last rank does not mean there was something wrong with it. As the story progressed, Black Clover brought forward better and more eventful arcs.
9. Hot Spring Training Arc
Chapters: 102-111
At number 9 we have “Hot spring Arc” which is a sub-part of the Royal knight arc, it is the 7th Arc of the series, standing at the ninth rank among the ten best arcs of Black Clover, it gives a light-hearted touch to the intense series. It is laid back and relaxing to just watch the characters have a good time. This arc really helped me take the time to know more about the characters on a normal level rather than just knowing their abilities. Additionally, I think there are several details of importance within the arc although people see it as a filler arc.
Details like the mana skin are introduced, which holds significance in future arcs. Moreover, this is the same arc where Asta learns how to use his black form. Noelle’s future development could be hinted at in the arc. Meaning, it is easy to figure out in the future that how and why she developed as a character with the Black Bulls.
8. Magic Knight’s Entrance Arc
Chapters: 1-10
The Magic Knights Entrance Arc is the 1st arc of Black Clover. The First Arc of the series is important as it works as a hook, it is safe to say that Magic knight’s entrance Arc is one of the best manga opening arcs of all time. The arc revolves around Asta and Yuno’s efforts to enter the order of the Magic Knights. We get to know about the dreams of our protagonists of becoming magic emperors one day. Asta’s attitude to never give up and to become strong despite being magicless is what makes this arc in particular and whole black clover in general great.
In this arc, we have our first fight when Yuno’s magic was sealed by Revchi but all of a sudden, a five-leaf grimoire appears and Asta uses the anti-magic sword to free Yuno, this scene was easily one of the top five scenes in the series, after that Asta trained in the jungle for magic knight entrance exam and finally get into black bulls a team notorious for odd picks, while Yuno decides to join top rank team Golden dawn
7. Witch’s Forest Arc
Chapters: 74-101
The Witches’ Forest Arc is the 6th arc of Black Clover, The Witch’s Forest Arc is one of the most exciting arcs in Black Clover and takes place after the Seabed Temple Arc after the Black Bulls managed to retrieve the magic stone and get back to the surface, Asta’s arms get checked by a healer, who says that his arms may never be the same again. Hearing this the team splits up to try and find a cure for Asta, and Vanessa goes to a place she never thought she would return to, her home Witch Forest.
This arc brings out intense battles and reveals some major secrets of the series. One major character development of Vanessa can be seen in this arc who got herself a cat spirit. Overpowered characters like the Witch Queen make it so much more fun to watch too, Double attack of Diamond kingdom and Eye of Midnight Sun’s army on Witch forest and Asta pushing his limits during the fight and it was the first time Asta showed his black form, the emotional aspect of Mars fighting against her sister makes this arc more and more fun and interesting to watch.
6. Eye Of The Midnight Sun Arc
Chapters: 38-56
The Eye of the Midnight Sun Encounter Arc is the 4th arc of Black Clover. This arc revolves around the kidnapping of children from Nairn and the resulting conflict between the Eye of the Midnight Sun and Clover Kingdom’s Magic Knights. This arc of Black Clover is drenched in multiple plot twists, and it’s mesmerizing. Pre-introduced characters develop the story very well from this arc. Yami especially begins stealing the show here on. There was so much that we received to love Yami in this arc.
The storyline was a bit confusing at first, but once you get it, it is appreciable. The leader of the Eye of the Midnight Sun was a very well-written character too. The clash between the Wizard King and the then believed Licht was yet another great part of this arc. The Witch’s Forest Arc and the Eye of the Midnight Sun Arc are equally good. However, the fights between Yami and Wizard King sets this arc apart from the rest as we get a glimpse of how strong wizard king is. And Yami’s fight against Licht is one the best fight of the series.
5. Seabed Temple Arc
Chapters: 57-73
The Seabed Temple Arc is the 5th arc of Black Clover. This arc revolves around the Black Bull’s mission to the Seabed Temple to retrieve one of the Magic Stones. The underwater visuals of this arc’s attention to detail and amazing fights make this arc one of the best.
In the Seabed Temple Arc, the story turns towards the character developments of Noelle, Luck, and the other Black Bull members. The Seabed Temple Arc introduces a seriously overpowered villain, Vetto. It keeps interesting when Yami is not involved in the fight. Instead, we see the new members of the Black Bulls team up and work together. The Seabed Temple Arc features one of the most badass battle sequences in Black Clover. It almost looks impossible to defeat him. Asta and Finral combination is pleasing to the eyes. This arc has 3rd all-time great scene of the series where Yami uses Dimension slash for the first time.
While the Seabed Temple Arc was great, the only reason why it does not rank higher is that the arc feels a bit stretched. The battle keeps going on without stopping for longer than it was needed. It does have great moments in it but even then, a long fight scene leaves a bad taste.
4. Royal Knight’s Tournament Arc
Chapters:
The eighth arc of the Black Clover series is easily one of the fan’s favorite arcs. In this arc, Asta and some of his comrades enter a tournament with other Magic Knights to become a part of the Royal Knights, a squad that will be assigned the duty of attacking the Eye of the Midnight Sun’s Base. During the tournament, we are introduced to one of the strongest characters in the series, the older Vermillion sibling, Mereoleona. Zora is introduced in this chapter and will show his importance in the next arcs. We get to see Yuno’s improved magic skills as he wins the final against magic knight captain Rill.
The tournaments kept the heartbeat rising. It is quite intriguing because the Royal Knight’s Tournament Arc is engaged in activities till the end. It does not stop and keeps featuring some of the most badass face-offs ever. This arc features the 2nd best scene of the whole series when Langris is about to kill Finral and all of a sudden 3 black clover members jump in to save him. It was widely considered the best scene of the whole series until the last chapter came out.
3. Elf Reincarnation Arc
Chapters: 94-157
The Elf Reincarnation Arc is the 8th arc of Black Clover. With the Royal Knights having been selected, they begin their attack on the base of the Eye of the Midnight Sun but things do not go as planned and the eye of Midnight’s Sun becomes successful in their plan. The Elf Reincarnation Arc is the third-best arc of the Black Clover series. The arc features most characters, and everyone gets a lot of screen time too. Many epic battles are fought in the arc but what truly looks great is how well some of the characters team-up. The Elf Reincarnation feels like the closest thing to an endgame.
We get to know about the backstories of captain Vangence and how he is possessed by an elf and has a dual personality, and actually, he is the leader of the Eye Midnight Sun, We get to see the grimoire of Wizard King which is as huge as a building, we get to know the real reason behind elf’s attack and the back story of first wizard king, there is a lot of emotional weightage in this arc, especially in the scene when the Wizard King “dies” or when Luck tears out.
Another great thing that came out of the Elf Reincarnation Arc is the power-ups received by the characters. Luck transforms, Noelle earns the Valkyrie armor, Feugoleon Vermillion gets chosen by Valkyrie, and many more.
2. Heart Kingdom Joint Struggle Arc
Chapters: 229-260
The Heart Kingdom Joint Struggle Arc is the 9th arc of Black Clover. After the Elf incarnation arc, this Arc follows the 6 months time skip in which clover kingdom magic knights go heart kingdom to learn more about Asta’s devil. In this Arc, the Dark triad attacks the clover kingdom to kidnap Yami and Vangence to open the gate of the underworld by using the tree of Qliphoth
This Arc is ranked so high because of just one reason and it is its fighting, in this arc, we get to see the best of the best fights of the series. All 3 members of the Dark triad are seen in action against different opponents. Heart kingdom queen and Noelle’s fight against Magicula, Zenon vs Golden dawn members, and finally Dante’s attack on the Black Bull’s hideout.
Yami and Asta combining to fight Dante and almost defeat the strongest dark triad member is what that makes this Arc 2nd best of the series
1. Spade Kingdom Raid Arc
Chapters: 261-331
The Spade Kingdom Raid Arc is the 10th arc of Black Clover. In this arc, we see that Clover and Heart Kingdoms organize their forces to raid the Spade Kingdom and retrieve the captured captains and princess, as well as to stop the Dark Triad from unleashing devils onto the continent.
We get to see the vice-captain of Black bulls Nacht, his back story and we get to know that he is also a devil host, Nacht trains Asta and teaches him devil binding ritual, In this Arc, we get to see the best version of each and every character like Fuegoleon Vermillion, Jack the Ripper, Mereoleona and Noelle. Yuno and Asta’s past is finally revealed we get to know that Yuno is the prince of the Spade Kingdom, and how Asta’s mother was killed by Lucifero.
This Arc has the best fights including Magna vs Dante, a mare farmer defeating a member of the Dark Triad without anyone’s help, Megicula defeated by Noelle who took her mother’s revenge, Yuno beating Zenon taking revenge for all the golden dawn members,( even after defeating all three dark triad members the gate still gets opened and Lucifero comes out), and finally Asta using his new form to defeat Lucifero.
But all the great moments were sidelined as all the spotlight is stolen by the very last page of manga when we get to know that the fourth brother of Zogratis family is none other than Wizard King himself. It is without a doubt the best scene in Black Clover manga.
