Chainsaw Man – Top 10 Strongest Characters In The Series
Chainsaw man is one of the hottest manga currently in Shonen Jump. Chainsaw Man series takes place in a world that is filled with devils. Devils are the embodiment of humanity’s fear of certain things. We have humans who have contract with devils, actual devils, and hybrids which are mixture of humans and devils.
Ranking them based on their strength is highly difficult since most powers aren’t straightforward in Chainsawman. I haven’t included devils that aren’t focused or else the list will be just Devils that aren’t explored yet. Only prominent characters or devils are considered for the list. But here we go!

10. Katana Man
Current State: Hybrid
Katana Man is a human-devil hybrid of Katana Devil. Katana are widely feared in the world and hence hits devil equivalent should be really powerful and Katana Man proves it. His hybrid transformation allow him to have sowrds emerging from his head and his arms.
Aki even sacrificed several years in his life span for using Curse Devil and only had two years left after the fight against Katana Man. Katana Man managed to overpower both Denji and Aki using his swordsmanship.
9. Reze/Bomb Devil
Current State: Hybrid
Reze is a human-devil hybrid of Bomb devil. Even in her human form, Reze was highly skilled as she was able to kill an assassin by choking him. In her Bomb hybrid form, she becomes one of the strongest characters we have seen. She is physically quite tough and capable of going toe to toe with Denji. Beam also becomes irritated with her and rushes to Denji’s aid, demonstrating her strength.
Bombs in general are highly feared by humans and it is no surprise that even a hybrid form of Bomb devil is immensely powerful. She can use her own skin as explosives to increase the power of her physical attacks.
8. Cosmos Devil
Current State: Fiend
Cosmos Devil is one of the strongest Fiends we have seen. She maynot be the strongest character physically we have seen but her ability is one of the strongest we have seen. She has the power to make the character know everything about the universe. The subject can only think of Halloween till they die, rendering them semi-catatonic.
Her own personality is similar to this as she only says “Halloween”. I believe since people generally are afraid of the vastness of the universe, she is really powerful. Since she isn’t strong physically, I have put her behind others.
7. Angel Devil
Current State: Devil
Angel Devil is a devil that is manifestation of the fear of Angels. His ability is one of the most overpowered ones we have seen in the series. He can absorb the life spans of humans simply by touching them. By holding Angel’s hand, Aki lost two months of his life. Angel is reputed to be the second most powerful devil hunter only behind Kishibe.
Angel can turn the life spans taken into weapons of supernatural abilities. Makima summons a spear from his halo using 1000 years of lifespan. The terrifying aspect of this power is that the years accumulated can be nearly infinite.
6. Quanxi
Current State: Hybrid
Quanxi is a human-hybrid of an unknown Devil. Even in her human form, she is described to have a level of strength beyond human capability. Kishibe considers her to be one of the best in the world. She cut dozens of humans and dolls pretty quickly. She even knocked out Aki Hayakawa and Angel Devil.
In the International Assassins arc, she defeated several top level combatants. She was only restricted when Kishibe held her fiends as hostages. We didn’t get to see that much of her hybrid powers which actually justifies her position here.
5. Santa Claus
Current State: Human(?)
Santa Claus can create dolls and can control them like a puppet. She can also create perfect dolls as she did the same with an Old Man and Tolka. It is still not clear whether she is the original body or she is a doll herself. But nevertheless, she has shown some of the strongest feats in the series. She acted as the primary antagonist of the International assassination arc.
She even managed to send everyone to Hell where they met Darkness devil and thus received a part of Darkness Devil as her power after which she became even more powerful. She improved her endurance, regeneration, speed, strength, etc. Eventually, she got defeated by Denji and was trapped by Cosmos in her library.
4. Gun Devil
Current State: Devil/ Fiend
Gun Devil is a devil which is manifestation of the fear of guns. Gun devil was built up as the end game villain for half of the series. Gun devil conducted attacks in numerous places of the world thirteen years before the current storytime, killing 1.2 million people. Its impact on human society resulted in an increase in overall fear of devils.
Gun devil is extraordinarily fast, able to move across multiple nations in minutes. Devils who consume the flesh of Gun devil become stronger. To our knowledge, the Gun Devil has committed the most murders in human culture. However, Makima kills it, and it subsequently transforms into a fiend possessing Aki’s body. Denji eventually kills it.
3. Control Devil
Current State: Devil
Next up on the list is the most intriguing character in the series, Makima. The extent of her abilities is mostly unknown yet. Makima has the power to control whomever she considers to be inferior to her.
Angel Devil, Future Devil, Snake Devil, Punishment Devil, Zombie Devil, and other devils’ abilities are all available to her. She can probably control every introduced character in the series except Chainsaw Devil and Darkness Devil.
As per her deal with the Japanese PM, the damage done to her gets transferred to a random Japanese person. While the US president strikes a deal with the Gun Devil to assassinate Makima in exchange for a one-year lifespan for each US citizen. She seems almost invincible and is one of the strongest devils we have seen in the series so far.
2. Darkness Devil
Current State: Devil
Darkness devil is one of the devils based on primal fears itself. One of Quanxi’s girls outright says that they are devils of primal fears that are several times more dangerous than Gun devil. She even wishes to kill herself rather than confront the Darkness devil.
He destroys Beam, Stone devil, and Violence devil with no trouble, and even manages to subjugate Makima. We all know that the more the devil is feared, the stronger the devil becomes, and almost everyone is terrified of the dark. As a result, it’s no surprise that the Darkness Devil is one of the most dangerous devils on the planet.
1. Denji/Chainsaw Devil
Current State: Hybrid
Denji is a human-hybrid form of Chainsaw Devil. We still don’t know everything there is to know about the Chainsaw Devil’s skills or why it is in the physical world. A large number of people were after Denji’s heart from the outset. Purely on combat, Chainsaw doesn’t seem impressive like other devils like Control, Darkness, etc but other factors allude to it being the strongest.
There are several proofs laid out in the series that suggest that Chainsaw Devil is the most dangerous of all. Chainsaw Devil is the only one that can erase Devils out of memory by eating them and making them incapable of reviving. Angel devil informs that the last sound the devils hear in hell before reviving on the earth is that of the sound of Chainsaw’s engine starting “Brroom”. This is the start of many lore about Chainsaw we hear throughout the series.
Chainsaw Devil erased the historical things such as Nazis, AIDS, Nuclear weapons, etc by consuming their devil equivalent. When he was summoned into Hell by Hell devil, he straight up slaughters every devil there and returns to earth immediately. So based on these I believe that Chainsaw Devil is the strongest devil in existence and hence Denji is the strongest character in the world.
