One Piece: Kid’s DF Awakening and Rail Gun Powers Explained
Eustass Kid has a paramecia devil fruit called Jiki Jiki No Mi which allows him to have magnet-like powers thus attracting metal objects towards him. In chapter 1030, Kid revealed that he had awakened his devil fruit ability which he can use as a last resort.
Assign
This is pretty simple. If Kid touches a target it gains the property of magnetism. Hence the target can attract metal objects that are ferromagnetic in nature. By doing this Kid can manipulate the surrounding metals and attack a target.
He used assign on Big Mom and pincered her with metal objects.
North Pole – South Pole
Another variation of assign is assigning one target the North Pole and the other the South pole. By doing this said targets will attract each other due to magnetic principles. By this attack, he can pincer the target with a huge metal item.
Kidd assigned the North pole to Big Mom and the South Pole to metal objects thus attacking Big Mom with metal objects. She managed to evade it by switching sides.
Rail Gun
Another application of Kid’s awakening is Railgun. Not sure how much scientific accuracy we should give to Railgun Kid uses. But I will try to explain it scientifically.
Railgun is a weapon that uses electromagnetic force to launch projectiles. It uses a parallel of electric conductors for magnetic power, a projectile between them, and a power source.
Railgun needs electricity to activate. We can also see electric discharge visually in Kid’s Railgun too. The question is how does Kid generate electricity when his power is magnetism.
How Kid generate electric power?
Magnetic powers can be used to generate electricity. When a conductor is rotated in a magnetic field, it produces electric power. Eustass Kid can manipulate metals and can assign magnetic powers too, so by combining both of these he can theoretically create electric power. We can even see wires in Kid’s Railgun. This electric power can be used as the source for Railgun.
As far as the projectile is concerned, Kid probably used some metal construction of his imagination as a high-velocity projectile.
