Top 10 Saddest Deaths in Jujustu Kaisen
Jujutsu Kaisen has quickly established itself as one of the most popular series in recent times. JJK isn’t afraid to kill its characters which leads to some of the saddest deaths in the series.

10. Wasuke Itadori
Wasuke Itadori was Yuji Itadori’s grandfather. Wasuke is shown to be a selfless, caring man who taught Yuji to help others.
He was the first character to die in this Series. The last words he said before his death were the reason why Itadori chose to be a jujutsu sorcerer, The facial expression Yuji made on his death made it more impactful and sadder.
9. Junpei
Junpei Yoshino was a high school student in Satozakura High School who befriended Yuji Itadori but turned into a curse user after meeting Mahito. Junpei is a reserved and apathetic individual with a distaste for other people. He has very negative views of people and society as a whole. Junpei’s dejected attitude made him easy for Mahito to manipulate.
His death was one of the most heartbreaking ones. The boy wanted to be saved and just needed a place to belong. Yuji, his first and only friend, did make him realize his true self and bring him back. However, it was too late, and Mahito used his Idle Transfiguration Technique and deformed him to death in a playful manner.
Everyone hoped that he will join Sorcerer’s school at the end of chapter 26, but chapter 27 has some other plans.
8. Eso and Kechizu
Two of the Cursed Womb: Death Painting brothers, Eso and Kechizu, were the antagonists of the Death Painting Arc. Reaching Yasohachi bridge, they fought Kugisaki Nobara and Itadori Yuji and lost their lives.
Their deaths were sad as during their fight, we come to sympathize with the love between the siblings. As Kechizu dies, Eso sorrowfully and regretfully tries to escape in a truck but, he too is killed by Nobara. Their deaths are then sensed by Choso (their third brother).
7. Nagi Yoshino
Nagi Yoshino was the mother of Junpei Yoshino. Nagi was a friendly, laid-back woman who cared deeply for her son. She was eager for him to make friends and took a liking to Yuji immediately.
Her love for his son and friendly nature and acceptance of others made her a loveable character. She was killed by the cursed spirit who was chasing Sukuna’s finger. This unanticipated scene was saddening. Mahito planted this finger in Nagi’s house.
6. Riko Amanai
Riko Amanai was a student at Renchoku Girls’ Junior High and the designated Star Plasma Vessel for Master Tengen’s merger in 2006. readers had built an attachment with Riko’s outspoken and innocent personality. She had even befriended her two bodyguards and made a good bond with them.
They fail to stop Fushiguro Toji, who assassinates her for a bounty from the Time Vessel Association. Even though she was destined to die as a result of the body transfer of Master Tengen. Seeing the efforts of our main characters turning into dust and such a bright character losing her life was disheartening.
5. Kokichi Muta
Kokichi Muta was a second-year at Kyoto Jujutsu High, he use Ultimate Mechamaru as his proxy to attend school. Kokichi himself could not attend school due to the sickly and fragile body he was born with as a result of his Heavenly Restriction. He had formed an attachment with his schoolmates and dreams of walking among his classmates in Kyoto.
He had made a deal with Mahito to act as a spy for him in exchange that Mahito would cure him using his Idle Transfiguration Technique and restrain him from hurting his friends.
Later he double-crossed Mahito. But in rash combat with him, Kokichi lost his life. But his wish remained incomplete, even when he was able to walk. That makes his death even more tragic.
4. Suguru Geto
Suguru Geto is an antagonist in the Jujutsu Kaisen series. He was originally a student of Masamichi Yaga’s alongside Satoru Gojo and Shoko Ieiri at Tokyo Jujutsu High. His experiences as a jujutsu sorcerer bred a deep hatred for non-sorcerers, leading to an incident where Suguru massacred over a hundred civilians in a single night. He was expelled from Jujutsu High and came to be known as the worst of all curse users.
Defeated by Okkotsu Yuta, Geto’s life is ended by Gojo Satoru. The short but final conversation between the two friends was deeply sentimental. Despite having separate beliefs, the two were on a good note with each other. Seeing them share the same affection towards the bond between them was nostalgic. Also, Gojo’s past arc recontextualized their relationship even more and made the death even more impactful when looking back.
3. Masamichi Yaga
Masamichi Yaga was the principal of Tokyo Jujutsu High, the creator of Panda, and was a teacher of Satoru Gojo, Suguru Geto, and Shoko Ieiri while they were second-year students. Masmichi has demonstrated the ability to create self-sufficient, intelligent Cursed Corpses that generate their Cursed Energy. This means he could potentially create an endless army of autonomous Cursed Corpses that require no external support.
So higher-ups give him two options, either tell the secret or die he chose to die so was killed by principle Gakuganji. He then curses Gakuganji by telling him the secret technique. His bond with the cursed corpses and the mutual love they share makes this death painful.
2. Yu Haibara
Yu Haibara was a first-year student along with Kento Nanami at Tokyo Metropolitan Curse Technical College. Yu was an optimistic and cheerful young man who was willing to prove himself to his upperclassmen.
His lively nature, easy-going attitude, and the respect he had for his seniors, make him a character everyone loves, he had such a lively conversation with Geto in chapter 76, where he explain what he feel about being a jujutsu sorcerer, nobody didn’t expect him to die too early.
He and Nanami were sent to take out what was believed to be a grade 2 cursed spirit, however, it turned out to be a grade 1, and it was thus too powerful for Yu. He was in the screentime for just a few pages and yet his death hit hard.
1. Nanami
Kento Nanami was a former student of Tokyo Jujutsu High where he was an underclassman of Satoru Gojo and Suguru Geto. Nanami initially left Jujutsu High after graduating to become a salaryman but returned four years later to continue working as a jujutsu sorcerer. Nanami is a very wise and reserved kind of man, often appearing so calm and indifferent that he comes off as stoic and aloof.
During the Shibuya Incident Arc, In a beaten-up state, Nanami’s inner thoughts were revealed. He had been regretful and guilt-ridden for failing to save his first-year friend Yu Haibara during his student life. Throughout his last fights and struggles, he kept strengthening himself by keeping Haibara’s determination as a sorcerer in mind.
He smilingly addressed his last words to Yuji that his time was over and now Yuji could take it from where he was leaving. This is by far the saddest death in Jujutsu Kaisen and
