Black Clover is a Shonen manga written and illustrated by Yūki Tabata. The story follows Asta, a young boy born without any magic power which is rare considering everyone has some sort of magic power. We follow Asta’s journey to becoming the Wizard King. Grimoires are magical objects that greatly enhance the user’s magical abilities. They also serve as a written record of all the spells that a user has cast. Here we rank the top 10 strongest grimoire introduced so far in the series.
10. Noelle Silva
Spells: Water Magic, True Water Magic, Creation Magic, Spirit Magic, Saint Valkyrie Armor
Noelle Silva is a noblewoman and the second daughter of the Clover Kingdom’s House Silva, one of its royal families, Undine, the spirit of water, chooses to serve Noelle after her contract with Princess Lolopechka is temporarily weakened.
Noelle wields a three-leaf clover grimoire that she uses to amplify her water-based magics. It has a cream-colored cover with intricate borders and a three-leaf clover insignia at the center of the front cover.

Langris Vaude is a nobleman of House Vaude, a 1st Class Senior Magic Knight, and the former vice-captain of Clover Kingdom’s Golden Dawn squad. Him being the vice-captain of the strongest Magic knight group speaks for his power.
Langris possesses a three-leaf clover grimoire that contains various space-based magic spells. Due to his Spatial Magic’s power, he rarely has to open his grimoire and use specific spells.
8. Fuegoleon Vermillion
Spells: Fire Magic, Creation Magic, Restraining Magic, Spirit Magic, Reinforcement Magic, Salamander’s Breath
Fuegoleon Vermillion is a nobleman and the first son of the Clover Kingdom’s House Vermillion, one of its royal families. He is also the captain of the Crimson Lion squad of the Magic Knights. Salamander, the spirit of fire, chooses to serve.
Fuegoleon possesses a three-leaf clover grimoire that contains fire-based magic spells. The grimoire has red covers with an intricate flower design, which is decorating the border of its covers, and an ornament of leaves arranged in the shape of the sun at the center of the covers.
7. William Vangeance
Spells: World Tree Magic, Healing Magic, Healing Magic, Union Magic
William Vangeance is the first captain of the Clover Kingdom’s Golden Dawn squad of the Magic Knights. He is said to be the closest person to becoming the next Magic Emperor.
William possesses a three-leaf clover grimoire that contains various world tree-based spells. The color of its Grimoire is golden, with Light golden designs on it. His being the captain of the strongest magic knight group speaks for his power, his spells are great in both offense and defense. Against Zenon, he was able to put up a great show despite having a handicap (protecting/healing his squad members).
6. Yuno
Spell: Wind Magic, Creation Magic, Spirit Magic, Spirit of Boreas, Spirit of Euros, Saint Spirit of Zephyr, Star Magic, Quartile Hasta, Conjunction, Quartile Scutum
Yuno Grinberryall is an orphan who was left under the care of a church in Hage, after the downfall of House Grinberryall, the former royal family of the Spade Kingdom. He is vice-captain of the Clover Kingdom’s Golden Dawn, and a member of Royal Knights squads. He is a wind Magic-user, Sylph, the spirit of the wind, chooses to serve Yuno after he finds her scroll in a dungeon. He also possesses 2nd grimoire of spade kingdom its full potential is yet to be discovered.
First Grimoire: Yuno possesses a four-leaf clover grimoire that contains various wind-based spells, which he receives in the acceptance ceremony after he turns 15 years old. His grimoire has a gold-colored cover, the gold-colored four-leaf clover insignia at the center of the front cover, and intricate ornaments around the borders.
Second Grimoire: Yuno also possesses a spade grimoire that contains various star-based spells.[54] He receives this grimoire after crashing into a grimoire tower in the Spade Kingdom.
5. Yami
Spells: Dark Cloaked Avidya Slash, Black Hole, Black Cocoon, Dimension Slash, Avidya Wild Slash, Equinox, Death Thrust, Reinforcement Magic, Union Magic
Yami Sukehiro is a foreigner from the Hino Country and the first captain of the Clover Kingdom’s “Black Bull squad” of the Magic Knights. He is often considered the strongest captain in Clover kingdom but due to his careless attitude, he is not a favorite to become the next wizard king.
Yami possesses a three-leaf clover grimoire that contains various darkness-based spells, This grimoire has clover in the center and there are flowers in the corners, his grimoire is covered in the dark purplish aura. He uses his katana infused with dark magic to fight. He is the only person with darkness type magic and it is considered as strongest magic type and can counter light magic and demon magic easily. These abilities make this grimoire rank so high on the list.
4. Lolopechka
Spells: Water Magic, Healing Magic, Spirit Magic, monitoring spell, Hydra of Darkness
Lolopechka is the princess and ruler of the Heart Kingdom and the priestess of Undine, the spirit of water. Lolopechka can control all the mana in the area around her to increase her spells’ power and range. Her area of control extends over the entire Heart Kingdom.
Lolopechka possesses a heart grimoire that contains various water-based magic spells, which she has inherited from the prior generations of princesses. It is a two-colored grimoire covered in a blue aura.
3. Lemiel Silvamillion
Spells: Light Magic,
Lemiel Silvamillion Clover is a human royal and the first Magic Emperor of the Clover Kingdom’s Magic Knight Squads. He was the first human to receive a four-leaf clover grimoire, He is also considered to be the strongest mage ever for defeating the demon alone in the past.
Lemiel possesses a four-leaf clover grimoire that contains various light-based spells, it has a golden-colored cover with four-leaf clover insignia at the center surrounded by the pattern in a diamond shape. He is the only human to possess light-based magic and it is considered the strongest type of magic and can be countered only by dark magic.
2. Licht and Asta
Spells: Sword Magic, Union Magic, “Anti Magic”(after the grimoire was possessed by the devil)
On number 2 we have a very unique grimoire, as we know after the death of a person his grimoire also disappears but it didn’t happen in the case of Licht as his grimoire was possessed by a devil so it turned into a five-leaf grimoire, and later was transferred to Asta our main protagonist. Licht was an elf who was the leader of the Elf Tribe and one of its ten Apostles of Sephirah. He was the only other person to have a four-leaf grimoire in the ancient times alongside Lemiel Silvamillion,
Licht possessed a four-leaf clover grimoire that contained various sword-based magic spells. Licht’s despair over the Massacre of the Elf Tribe turned his grimoire into a five-leaf clover one, and a devil later inhabits the book.
Asta had that grimoire, later on, this grimoire can store magic swords such as Demon-Destroyer Sword, Demon-Dweller Sword, and Yami’s katana.
1. Julius Novachrono

On number one we have the strangest Grimoire we have seen in the whole series, A grimoire with no cover. Yes, we are talking about the current Wizard king of the clover kingdom and eldest brother of the Zogratis siblings’ grimoire. Julius Novachrono/Lucius Zogratis is the 28th Magic Emperor of the Clover Kingdom’s Magic Knights.
Julius’s magic type is unique to him, he is the only person in history to have Time magic, and also is linked to the time devil Astaroth.
First Grimoire: Julius possesses a coverless grimoire that contains various time-based spells. The number of pages kept on growing as Julius learned the spells along the way to become wizard king. After his death and revival, his grimoire has been reduced to a single page.
Second Grimoire: He also possesses the 2nd grimoire, it has 2 spades on its cover, it is believed that it is the strongest grimoire in the whole series as it is possessed by time devil Astaroth.
