15. Fairy Tail

Fairy tail anime is a Japanese manga series written and illustrated by Hiro Mashima. The story follows the adventures of Natsu as he searches the fictional world of Earthland for the dragon Igneel. Natsu is a member of the popular wizard guild Fairy Tail. The world is vast with numerous guilds where wizards use their magic for job requests.

Natsu is joined by Lucy Heartfilia and together with a cat-like companion called Happy, they go on adventures to achieve their goals. Though it takes place in a high fantasy world, the series lacks good world-building which stops it from ranking high.

14. Pokemon

Pokemon is one of the most popular franchises in the world. The show follows the quest of a young boy named Ash Ketchum as he trains to become a “Pokémon Master” by collecting different fictional species of animals known as “Pokémon”. Along his journey, Ash is joined by new friends including Misty, Brock, and Pikachu.

Pokemon doesn’t have a great overarching story but it is about the adventures of finding Pokemon by traveling all over the world. The characters try to collect various types of Pokemon by adventuring. The story may be more suited for kids and hence it gets placed below in this list.

13. The Promised Neverland

Promised Neverland is a Japanese manga series written by Kaiu Shirai and illustrated by Posuka Demizu. The story follows Emma, Norman, and Ray as they try to escape from the orphanage they live. It turns out that human children are grown there to be food livestock for demons.

The characters are entirely in a world where they know nothing about. They have to decrypt the mysteries of the world by finding clues. The adventure in this series may not be a positive one rather than a necessary need to escape the harsh reality of their world. Nevertheless, the adventure and world-building aspect of Promised Neverland is actually great.

Digimon Adventures follows the adventures of a group of children who are transported to the parallel Digital World and befriend creatures known as Digimon to save the world from evil forces. Digimon is similar to Pokemon but the story of Digimon is far more interesting than Pokemon. Digimon is one of the best anime primarily for kids with certain ideas that may be even good for adults.

11. Attack On Titan

Attack on Titan is a Japanese manga series written and illustrated by Hajime Isayama. The story centers around the life of Eren Yeager, Mikasa Ackerman, and their friend Armin Arlert. Set in a post-apocalyptic world, humanity lives behind walls to protect itself from Titans. The story follows Eren’s journey with the Survey Corps as they fight against the Titans while trying to solve the mystery behind all these.

Adventure aspects in Attack On Titan are unlike the usual rather it is something they have to take to save humanity from Titans. Attack On Titan world is built on mysteries that need to be deciphered to know the hidden truth. As we know more, the world expands and adventuring becomes more but not in a positive way.

10. Yu Yu Hakusho

Yu Yu Hakusho is a Japanese manga series written and illustrated by Yoshihiro Togashi. Yusuke Urameshi is a delinquent who dies in an accident but is given a choice to be revived and become a spirit detective. The story follows his journey as a Spirit Detective where he fights demons that endanger humanity.

Being a spirit detective, Yusuke has to go on several adventures to solve the cases that were caused by demons. All arcs are in a different setting and each has an element of adventure with them. The final arc being a different world altogether added to the adventure part till the end.

9. Jojo’s Bizarre Adventures

Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure is a Japanese manga series written and illustrated by Hirohiko Araki. The first six parts are part of the Shonen medium. Each part focuses on a member of the Joester family and they are known as Jojo. Jonathan, Joseph, Jotaro, Josuke, Giorno, and Jolyne are the protagonists of the first six parts respectively.

As the name suggests, each part involves different characters and their own adventures. Part 3 has the best showcase of adventure in it as they travel to Egypt to defeat Dio overcoming several obstacles. But all parts together give the audience a sense of experiencing an entirely different world in each part.

There is a huge Abyss that leads deep into the earth and it is filled with mysteries and dangers that endanger anyone who goes into them. An orphaned girl named Riko meets a humanoid robot called Reg and decides to descend into the Abyss in hopes of finding her mother.

Abyss is filled with uncertainties including creatures, biological dangers like poisoning, hallucinations, natural obstacles with geographical conditions, and also human enemies. Abyss consists of several layers and the danger increases with each one. The group has to face several obstacles to attain its goal.

5. Gintama

Gintama is a fantasy comedy manga series written and illustrated by Hideaki Sorachi. Set in an alternate history, The story takes place in Edo which has been conquered by aliens called Amanto. Amanto has imposed its own set of rules on the populace. The series follows Gintoki Sakata, a freelance Samurai who does any work, and his two companions Shinpachi and Kagura.

Gintama is essentially a fun episodical or short story-based series which means the scope for having fun adventures is huge. The main cast takes strange jobs and has to travel to many different places to achieve them. From forests to an entire planet to going inside a robot, Gintama has it all. It is definitely one of the most underrated anime out there and it is a must-watch for those who are looking for adventures in anime.

4. Hunter X Hunter

Hunter x Hunter is a manga series written and illustrated by Yoshihiro Togashi. It tells the story of a kid named Gon who sets on a journey to become a hunter and also to find his father who left at a young age. HxH isn’t a feel-good story about teens rather it has a darker tone to its story than most Shonen anime.

The series is filled with weird creatures, an innovative power system, and an amazing world-building which makes the series quite adventurous. The first arc involves characters taking part in the Hunter exam that involves several trials in different locations. Then there is another arc where the characters go inside a video game to collect prized objects. While Chimera Ant arc takes place in a country that is close to the outside world. And there is a Dark continent that is yet to be explored, so it is fair to say HxH is one of the most adventurous anime out there.

Magi is a fantasy manga series written and illustrated by Shinobu Ohtaka. The story follows the adventures of Aladdin, Alibaba, and Morgiana. Aladdin is a Magi who travels the world to find his true self along with his mentor Ugo – a djinn. He meets Alibaba and Morgiana on his journey.

Dungeons are mysterious ruins where priceless treasures reside and it is filled with traps and dangers. The series also involves the main character traveling to different countries with their own politics, culture, and tradition. And there is amazing world-building in addition to all these.

2. Dragon Ball (Pre DBZ)

Dragon Ball is a Japanese manga series written and illustrated by Akira Toriyama. The story follows the adventures of Goku from his childhood through adulthood as he trains in martial arts and explores the world in search of the seven orbs known as Dragon Balls, which summon a wish-granting dragon when gathered.

Dragon Ball Z focuses more on the battle aspect but the original Dragon Ball with Kid Goku as the main character is one of the most fun anime you could watch. It primarily focused on collecting the dragon balls. Bulma and Goku travel around the world to find them. It was a light-hearted anime that is filled with comedy, weird creatures, an expandable power system, and genuine adventures.

One Piece is a Japanese manga series written and illustrated by Eiichiro Oda. The story follows the adventures of Monkey D. Luffy, a boy who wants to become the King of the Pirates, and his diverse crew of pirates, named the Straw Hat Pirates. Luffy gained the power of having a rubber body after eating a devil fruit. They are on a journey to find One Pieve to achieve their dreams.

What can be more adventurous than a group of pirates trying to find a grand treasure that is present on a mysterious island that no one knows of its location? Each island is unique with a distinct culture, tradition, and geographical conditions that make one feel like they are part of the adventure themselves. Worldbuilding in One Piece is the best in Manga. Overall it is the most adventurous anime I have seen.
