Why didn’t Asta rank up?
Asta didn’t rank up because he was accused of using devil powers which is a crime in the Clover kingdom and was under trial. If it wasn’t for trails, Asta would have been promoted to 1st class Magic Knight.
Rank System
Members of the Magic Knights are differentiated through ranks, which represent their status within the organization. A promotion to a higher rank is possible for every Magic Knight based on their performance, which is represented by the number of stars they had collected. The Magic Knights’ ranks are as follows:
- Magic Emperor
- Grand Magic Knight
- Senior Magic Knight
- Intermediate Magic Knight
- Junior Magic Knight
The leader of the Magic Knights, the Magic Emperor, is the highest rank in the organization. Below the Emperor status, members of the Magic Knights are divided into four other ranks, each of which (with the notable exception of the Grand Magic Knight) is further divided into five classes, with the 1st class as the highest and the 5th class as the lowest.
Asta’s Rank
As far as Asta is concerned he collected enough stars to get him self-promotion to 3rd class junior magic knight but this magic knight rank does not justify his talent. In fact, in terms of raw power black bulls has the strongest squad, but what they lack is discipline. Asta has definitely improved in terms of power and learned new abilities but his lack of stars is holding him back.
Many people wonder why Asta didn’t get promotion in episode 153 after he defeated the devil during the Elf Resurrection Arc, every other mage that played an important role was promoted, Since the Black Bulls are blacklisted because interfere with state affairs in order to rescue Asta and Nero as they were under the trail.
Asta was accused of using devil powers which is a crime in the clover kingdom and Nero was under trial for using forbidden magic many years ago that sealed the first wizard king. They did not receive a SINGLE accolade except a medal of “special recognition” to Yami as the representative. If it was not for Trail Asta would have been promoted to 1st class magic knight, as he played the most vital role in defeating elves and the devil himself.
